BAYERN 1, also known as Bayerischer Rundfunk 1 (BR1),
BAYERN 1 is a German offentlich-rechtliche radio station, owned and operated by Bayerischer Rundfunk. Historically, this program appeared from its first broadcast, until 1950 only by BR, and took on its official name due to program reform on January 1, 1974.
Generally aimed at middle-aged audiences, Bayern 1 offers a wide variety of music formats, as well as comprehensive regional reporting and information about the region. The music format is primarily Adult Contemporary (a listenable radio format aimed at adults), but it also features hits from the 1970s and 1980s, and even newer pop music.
The music selection is influenced by internal surveys of the target group. In 2013, the station shifted its programming from musical melodies and operettas to a new music format based on early music that featured hits from the 1970s and 1980s, mostly pop music, but sometimes folk or folk music as well. soft rock.
With the show's revamp in 2015, the oldies-based music format was expanded to 24 hours a day, but the folk and brass music that had aired at 11 a.m. for many years was no longer available. This was opposed by several petitions in Bavaria, arguing that the tradition of folk music in the show should be preserved.
Radio stations can be listened to on the Internet, as well as through various local and regional stations. These include the four largest local stations, Radio Arabella, Charivari, Gong 96.3 and Energy Munchen.
